Sounds of Khemit – Together we bring light from darkness

The decision to start Sounds of Khemit derived from the Khemitic calendar of the cycles of theuniverse. It is based on the belief that life constantly moves in a circular manner, passing through fivedistinct stages: five cycles in a day, from dawn to dusk; five cycles in life, from birth to death, and fivecycles of the universe, consisting of “Khepri” (the scarab beetle) or the dawn time, “Ra” (the morning sun) , “Oon” (the afternoon sun) , “Aten” (the wise) golden hour, up to sunset time and “Amen” (the dark or veiled or hidden) evening time. We believe that the dark times of Amen ended in 2020 and now we are living in the Khepri dawn time. The scarab beetle is pushing the sun disk resulting in the dawn of a new golden age filled with illumination and abundance and soon the second cycle will start. The sun will rise and fill the sky. The light will be back, order, truth and balance (Maat) will be restored.

In ancient khemit, Khepri is modeled after the dung scarab beetle that was highly significant. The activity of the beetle was like a sun disk’s movement across the sky, and the scarab beetle became Khepri’s symbol. It represents the first cycle, the dawn time. Khepri brought the sunrise over the horizon each day. As one of the most potent symbols of ancient Egypt, the scarab symbolizes transformation, birth, resurrection, the sun, and protection from this association. Khepri was
thought to represent creation, resurrection, and protection.

Khepri as a Symbol of Creation:

The beetles would roll their eggs, or germs of life, into a dung ball. They would stay inside the ball during the whole period of growth and development. With the sun’s light and warmth, new and fully-grown beetles would come out. The ancient Egyptians were fascinated with this phenomenon and thought that scarabs create life out of something lifeless, and saw them as symbols of spontaneous creation, self-regeneration, and transformation.

Khepri as a Symbol of Resurrection:

When the sun rises, it seems as if it is emerging from darkness and death into life and light. Then it would repeat this cycle morning after morning. As Khepri represents one phase of the sun’s daily journey. It is seen as the symbol of renewal, resurrection, and rejuvenation. As Khepri would push the sun disk across the sky, controlling its death during sunset and rebirth at dawn, it’s also associated with the never-ending cycle of life and immortality.

Khepri as a Symbol of Protection:

In ancient Egypt, the scarab beetles were widely worshiped and it was unlawful to kill scarabs because people feared it would offend Khepri. It was customary for both royals and commoners to be buried with scarab ornaments and emblems, representing justice and balance as well as the protection of the soul and its guidance to the afterlife.
